Airplane Day part 1

Although the kids were initially excited about staying in the hotel, they kept asking if it was "airplane day."  Our last night in our old home was Sunday, May 19, but we didn't fly out until Thursday, so the four days of waiting were very difficult for the kids.  When the big day came, they were disappointed they couldn't get on the airplane as soon as we got to the airport.  They weren't big fans of waiting in the security line either, and since we flew business class, it wasn't even very long!  But, alas, it was time to board!  They loved the "hallway" to the airplane, and asked a million questions as we were getting seated!  They were excited, to say the least!
They were especially excited to get orange juice in fancy glasses before takeoff....

But before even takeoff, we had a sleeper!
(This was after we reached cruising altitude and I reclined her, of course.). Also, the ear plugs were her own request, and she actually kept them in surprisingly!

Meanwhile, little man had a ball choosing movies!

After a couple hours we were served our appetizer, salad, dinner, and dessert....just like any other day :)

I chose some fancy shrimp for my appetizer, along with Coca-Cola Light to drink
I also had a chicken dish for my entree but forgot to take a picture :(

For dessert we all had Dulce de Leche ice cream, someone was engrossed in a movie while eating it!

After dinner, it was bedtime for the grown ups, but a certain boy had a hard time unwinding from all the excitement!  He must have fallen asleep sometime though, because when Sleeping Beauty woke me up at 11:15 (Houston time), he was finally out.  We ordered her the after hours dinner plate, but she was unimpressed by the fancy cheese and prosciutto!  Good thing breakfast was in an hour.  She snacked on apple sauce and raisins till then!  It's a good thing there was an assortment of breads, muffins, & croissants for breakfast!

And of course she went back to sleep before landing in Frankfurt, Germany.

Our OLD House

After we moved we had the house staged to get pictures taken and hopefully get it sold.  On Wednesday night, we let the kids go with us to go see how it looked staged.  I was surprised at how emotional they both were.  At first, they were excited to see our "new" furniture, but after explaining that this would be the last time they came in it, they were both sad.  With tears in his eyes, Jake asked if he could climb up in his closet one last time.

As we were fixing to leave, I told the kids to tell their old house goodbye, because it wouldn't be their house anymore when we came back to Houston....
....so they kissed it goodbye!

The Big Move

First off, I am amazed at how much stuff we have accumulated in the five years since we moved in!  Even Though we did have people packing and moving us, the process of sorting through all our earthly belongings was a long process!  We had to decide if each item was to go in storage, sea freight, air freight, or in our luggage (or carry-on).  We put a lot of small electronics and appliances in storage since the voltage is different and there are different plugs.  Also, most of our garage stuff went in storage.   The bulk of the house went into sea freight , and we wont see it until we move into a house we lease, hopefully we can find one within 6 weeks!  I'm so thankful that our movers were so efficient!  They arrived Monday morning at 9:15, and by the time they took a lunch break around 1, nearly all our belongings were in boxes!  They worked until 5 that night and took all of our "storage" items to a warehouse, where they will spend the next few years.  They came back Tuesday at 9 and had the entire contents of our house loaded and gone by 1!

I can't believe we filled this 80% full!!

For time being we are staying in a serviced apartment:
